Steve Cramsie's Intrepid

In 2370, Starfleet launched the Intrepid-class starship as a scout to explore the more closer regions of the galaxy. The first ship of the class was the USS Intrepid, NCC-74600. Later ships included the Voyager (NCC-74656), and the Bellerophon (NCC-74705). The photos here are of my completed USS Intrepid, in 1/1400 scale.

I  purchased the Monogram Voyager 3-piece kit off of eBay and sold off the other two ships, keeping the Voyager portion for myself. Assembly of the model was very easy, mainly because it consists of only 7  peices. I used Squadron Green modeling putty to make the seams disappear and sanded the model carefully. I primered the kit using Testor's primer, then used Dark Aircraft Grey as my base coat. I painted the details carefully to represent "off-mode", hence the copper warp engine colors and the delfector dish color. I then gloss coated the ship prior to applying over 200 decals from Thomas Models'  detailing sheet, which included adding the "Intrepid" name and custom number. The model was then dull coated twice.

I took the pics using a lens that makes the model look larger than it  is... in this case, like the regular 18 inch version. But keep in mind that what you are seeing is only 10 inches long! I cant wait to put the 1/1400 USS Sovereign thats under construction next to it. Not  shown is the custom stand I made using a varnished pine plaque and an acrylic rod. Total build time was about 25 hours, due to the decal work.
