BuildEnterprise

Sean Wills' Reliant

Here is my model of the USS Reliant. I can proudly say that this is the finest Star Trek model I have ever built (and believe me  I've built plenty!) This is the AMT kit and it is built almost straight from the box. The only modification I made to it was the addition of lights. Inside its hull I have three grain of wheat bulbs and  three bayonet base bulbs to light it up. I also have a grain of wheat in both the bridge and the planetary sensor array. There are two 555 timer circuits inside which control the running lights, one set at a fast speed and one at a slow speed. The whole thing runs off of 6 volts at 700 mA.

I tried to do as good a paint job as possible but to my dismay discovered that there is a great lack of good reference material on the Reliant, so I had to go off of what I saw in the movie and what I could find at CultTVman's site. The aztec pattern was masked and painted and is surprisingly good. I think it even  comes out in a couple of these pictures. What was really hard was trying to get the larger part of the primary hull's paneling to look random.
