With transporter technology in its infancy, the crew of the first Starship Enterprise relied heavily on their shuttlepods to transport them to the new worlds they encountered. They truly served as a workhorse for early exploration and alien encounters.

This model of the shuttlepod was built with using the resin kit produced by XAAM models. The model is of 1/48 scale and measures 5 inches in length. It is nicely detailed and appears to be quite accurate. There was very little assembly required. The only pieces that need to be glued on were the short wings. It is otherwise a solid resin  piece. The hull was first primed then painted with Testors Steel Metalizer. The decals provided with the model are delicate so be careful when handling them. Markings are provided to make it either a Starfleet based shuttlepod or an NX-01 shuttle.  Two colored stripes are provided, either blue or red.   I made the stand with a wooden plaque and used a 3/16" steel rod for support.  I also glued on the Enterprise logo that came with my  Art Asylum Enterprise.

It's an easy kit taking only a couple of days or so to finish. Most of that time is spent giving the primer and base coat time to fully dry. For the most part it makes a very nice replica of this ship and is a decent sized scale.  Costing only $35.00, it is well worth the price to add this to your collection.
