 Jim Piszar's Jupiter 2 Construction
part 7

This view shows the relocated viewport, the altered main hatch and the tether hook recesses.  I am not very satisfied with the outcome of this  modification and if I had it to do all over again, I would probably leave it as is.  The tether hook recesses were made by drilling two holes side-by-side and elongating them, which sounds easier than it really was.  The recessed line on the main hatch was filled in with putty and a raised line was placed in the correct location using a very thin piece of plastic sheet.  After several attempts, the recessed line still  showed through the paint.  Maybe in the future, I will use the upper hull section from another kit and do it right.

Here is the completed exterior with the astrogator in the upper bubble. Prior to painting the upper hull section, I secured a piece of sandpaper to a flat surface, laid the upper hull on top of it, and sanded off the round edge from the entire periphery.  This gives the ship a slightly more defined edge.
