Joel Tavera's Earth vs the Flying Saucers

This is the Monsters In Motion model kit of the "Earth vs. the Flying Saucers"  spaceship.   This kit is very, very modeler friendly.  It is clean and simple.  There are only five pieces to this kit.  The base, the 1/72nd scale alien figure, the saucer and the two piece death ray. The only area of concern was the gap between the top dome of the saucer and it's main body, but once puttied and sanded and premiered the results are a smooth finish.

From my  research of the movie the saucer was supposed to be a light gray, but the customer wanted it the typical silver. I used Testors' silver from the spray can and detailed certain areas of the saucer with an airbrushing of Tamiya's 'Metallic Grey.'

The pedestal the saucer rests on and the death ray were painted the same silver.  Tamiya 'Dark Grey' was used for the door recess of the pedestal.

The alien was sprayed a flat black with a dry brushing of Tamiya's 'Gunmetal.'

The concrete areas were painted Testors' 'Camouflage Grey' with a washing of Tamiya's 'Neutral Grey' and a dry  brushing of 'Deck Tan.'  The grassy area and bushes were airbrushed Tamiya 'Green' with a washing of 'Flat Black' for the bushes and an over all dry brushing of 'Light Green.'

All in all a very easy and nice and kit from Monsters In Motion.

This is the  Action Hobbies alien from the movie "Earth vs. the Flying Saucers."

The figure is 9 inches tall and I believe that it is the largest of the three incarnations of this creature on the market.

There are only 5 pieces to the kit.  Those pieces are the base, the column, the  main body of the alien and two arms.

There was quite a bit of sanding, putty and thick gel super glue filler to do to this kit, but ultimately it paid off.  After wards I sprayed the  figure flat black enamel, then airbrushed the entire body with a light coat of Tamiya's acrylic 'Gunmetal.'  Then I used the same 'Gunmetal' to do a drybrushing of all the raised surfaces.

The base is spray painted camouflage grey, with washes of Tamiya's 'Neutral' and 'Dark grey' paint.  Then dry brushed with Tamiya's 'Deck Tan.'  Tamiya 'Black' was airbrushed over the logo  area and the letters of the logo were detailed out with Tamiya 'Light Green.'

This model took some effort but the over all result was very well worth the time spent.
