Farscape One using foam and epoxy

Here's a quick and easy scratchbuild using styrofoam and two-part epoxy putty, specifically, Magicsculpt.

Step One: locate good images of the subject. I print them off to the size that I will build to, and use that as a guide for cutting and shaping the foam.  Then cut and wet-sanded to shape.

Step Two: I then mix a batch of the putty, using rollers to make a even height sheet of the putty, which is then draped over the foam to cure overnight. Always dust the rolling pin, and the work surface and the foam with baby powder first.  Doing so keeps the putty from sticking.

Picture 4 has the puttied underside. Photo 5 shows lower and top shells.  The see the shell halves joined, checked against the foam master.

Step Three:  Painting and Finishing.

Here a black primer coat has been applied and you see the styrene fin sheet.

The the fins are attached and the engine nozzle ready.   It was then masked off for white topcoat

After final assembly, the decals are applied and the shop is mounted to the base.
