Gino Dykstra's USS Ganges

This is the USS Ganges, done once again more or less "out of the box." However, in this case I decided on a slightly different tack to the painting. As you can see, the model has numerous panels, all in different colors and requiring, under normal conditions, a fair amount of patience masking. I wanted to achieve the effect of careful masking without the fuss, so I came up with an alternative way to manage the colors.

In this case, I airbrushed the model overall with Floquil Primer (useful color, that) and then, after it was thoroughly dry, hand-painted virtually every other color on the model.  After this was complete, I then went over the model and airbrushed a very thin mix of white over each panel, muting the colors and rendering it a nicely "airbrushed" effect. I then used some thinned yellow on the engines to the same effect.  Voila -- instant  snazz!  And a whole lot easier than all that tedious masking. . . .
