Dave Porter's X-Wing Hanger

Here is some pics of a Yavin Four diorama I completed a couple of years ago. I hope you will be able to submit them to your website.

The X-wing base kit is the old MPC offering that has been extensively modified. The additions include opened weapons bays, detailed engine compartment, and detailed sensor array. The cockpit has been totally rebuilt and includes scratch built targeting computer. The landing gear was scratch built as well.

The walls of the ancient structure were constructed using a high density foam covered with drywall plaster. The blocks were scribed and then airbrushed. An acrylic wash was then applied. Railroad scenery foam was added to simulate moss growing on the blocks.

The service tower, control room, stands and equipment, were completely scratchbuilt. Sheet styrene, various wire gauges, and a variety of old parts were used in their construction.

The X-wing scales out to about 1/43 to 1/45. Because of this, figures that properly represented the scale were hard to find. Most of them are oversized 1/48 ground crew figures for aircraft. The x-wing pilot was modifed with the use of Milliput. The boots, gauntlets, and vest were mouled using this material. The R2 unit is from the SMT 1/48 Y-wing fighter.
