Chris Mulcahy's Botany Bay

This is my Botany Bay modelled from the "Sci-Fi Spaceship Miniatures" Vac-Form kit. I modified the antenna's at the back with scratch built parts out of styrene and micro-mesh.  I used only the front and back sections of the cargo pod from the kit and scratch built the rest using .030 styrene stock and 1/4" strips of plex. The "wings" on the top of the sail were also scratch built from styrene.  The base was built for me by a good friend who also helped me mount the model onto the base once it was finished.  I used testors Spray Enamel Gray Primer (1237) and the base color was testors Dark Tan Spray Enamel (1942). The model was then weathered using pastels and a spray fixative was applied (testors dullcote 1260). Once that was dry I accented most of the edges of the model with chrome silver to give it the "stressed metal" look.
