I started this project because I saw the decals from JT graphics and thought it would be cool to have the star fleet feel. I
took an after noon and slapped all the pieces together.
The first thing I did with it was sand all the seems with 100 grit sand paper then 400 grit to smooth it out. Some of them
didn't even need the putty. I then did the putty sand putty sand. Primed it and it was decent. went over it again then was able to put on the base coat. Selected the colors for the details. I then
ordered the decals and they came in 3 days. So I went right away to the hobby shop and picked up decal setting solution, which I've never used before. And started my decals. I put the solution on the
model first because I used flat paint. After that the decals went on smoothly and I had plenty of time to slide it around to where I was happy with it. Then another coat of solution over that and
they looked great.
I wanted it to look a little used and abused to I read about weathering. I liked the pastel idea. I used pencil dust before and
though a light grey from the pastel would work the same with better results. I then got some old pastels I had since I was a kid. And some paint brushes and tooth brush. I like how it turned out. Id love
to hear suggestions if it would look better with more or less.
