Ali Lopez's Batcopter

I would like to submit my "Kit-bashed" Batcopter that I had completed several years ago. This was my first attempt to build a model that was not available off my local hobby shops shelfs. But on the shelf was a MRC Bell Model 47D MASH Helicopter, that I thought looked very similar. It in NO WAY represents a 1:24 copy of the real Batcopter -- so this was just an exercise to see if I could create a representation of this classic T.V. icon without spending vast amounts of money.

So here's what I came up with:

For the gas tanks I used took a wood fork and shaped it into the shapes you see and pieces of plastic spure, then attached them to the engine housing.

The model didn't have the rear stabilizer that the Batcopter had, so I took a piece of broken plastic off a freezer someone was throwing out, and carved it out.

Next came the "Batwings" for these I used a quart container of transmission fluid, just because it was black and about the right size. I used small screws to attach them to the main body.

The Robin figure was the pilot figure that came with the copter with the detail sanded off and a yellow latex balloon shaped into a cape quite flexible.

With the wings on it looked pretty good and off it went to the curio cabinet.
