Agatha Chamberlain's Botany Bay

I've finally had time to finish a few projects. This one is the Botany Bay.  This is the vac kit sold a few years ago. I believe it is the one also offered by Federation Models. This is the only vac kit that I've ever built. Interesting.

First off, many, many words of appreciation for Phil Broad's web site. He has good information there. It also caused me to modify the daylights out of the kit. The conning tower and propulsion module from the kit were too inaccurate to use, so mine are scratch built.

The hull was also modified by making the larger front section extend only to the forward edge of the cargo bays rather than the aft edge. Surface detailing was taken from whatever scraps that were handy.

The finished model was painted tan. I set it in front of a fan, facing into it, and let it blow a topcoat of grey to begin the weathering. That was finished with, of all things, a charcoal frost eyeshadow. Hey, I'm a girl. I can do that!
